If you’re wondering how our workshops work, you’re in the right place. We’ve answered some common questions below to help you feel confident before booking.
GETTING STARTED
Q: Are the workshops suitable for complete beginners?
A: Yes. The complete beginner workshop is designed for those with little or no experience. There are workshops for different abilities: complete beginners, confident beginners and intermediate level dressmakers.
Q: Do I need to know how to use a sewing machine?
A: Not for beginner workshops — I’ll guide you through everything. For ‘Confident Beginner’ and ‘Intermediate’ workshops, a basic understanding of your machine is recommended.
Q: What will I make during the workshop?
A: You’ll work on a sewing project from start to finish and leave with a completed piece that you’ve made yourself.
MATERIALS AND PREPARATION
Q: Do I need to bring my own sewing machine?
A:Yes, you’ll need to bring your own sewing machine.
Q: Are materials such as fabric included?
A: Materials are not yet included. After booking, you’ll receive a list of what to bring, including the type of fabric and how much to purchase.
Q: What should I bring to the workshop?
A: You’ll need to bring your sewing machine and any materials listed in your booking confirmation. As the workshop runs from morning to afternoon, please also bring a packed lunch. You’re welcome to bring a notebook if you’d like to take notes.

Q: Where are your workshops held?
A: Workshops take place at Great Wilbraham Memorial Hall, CB21 5JG.
Q: Is the venue accessible?
A: Yes, the venue is accessible, with a spacious entrance hall and accessible toilet facilities, including a disabled WC
BOOKING & PAYMENTS
Q: How do I book a workshop?
A: All places must be booked in advance through the website, and full payment is required to secure your spot.
CANCELLATION AND CHANGES
Q: What happens if I can’t attend?
A: Please let me know as soon as possible. Refunds aren’t guaranteed, but if your place can be filled, a partial refund may be offered (an admin fee will be retained). You’re also welcome to transfer your place to someone else.
Q: What if the workshop is cancelled or rescheduled?
A: In the unlikely event this happens, you’ll be offered an alternative date or a full refund.
OTHER INFORMATION
Q: What time should I arrive?
A: Please arrive on time so you don’t miss any important instructions at the start of the workshop.
Q: Will photos be taken during the workshop?
A: Occasionally, photos or videos may be taken for promotional purposes. Please let me know in advance if you’d prefer not to be included.
